Home Decor Trend: Fur
Maybe it's just the increasingly cold weather that is starting to influence my decorating style, or maybe it's just the fact that (faux) fur home decor is fun! This trend is very easy to incorporate into any home, simply through a blanket or throw pillow on a sofa, chair, or as extra bedding accents. These throws and pillows are great winter gift ideas also! If you're loving this trend as much as I am and want a more permanent look, try incorporating fur through a more substantial piece like a side chair, bean bag (great for a family den or kids space), or ottoman.

Bedroom Update
Now that we are all settled into our new apartment, I decided that it was time to give our bedroom a bit of an overhaul. After much deliberation, we finally selected an upholstered headboard from West Elm. The simple rectangular shape and tailored tufting gives it a classic feel. I love the medium grey fabric and feel that it will really anchor the space.
Next came the Safavieh nightstands. They are relatively large (26"W x 26"H) which always feels better in a space then teeny, tiny little things on either side of the bed. They are a lighter shade of grey and will coordinate nicely with our existing Target bedding (#2). I am toying with the idea of buying new crisp white bedding, but that'll be a later addition.
Then I came across these amazing Geode knobs from Anthropologie and knew that they had to become a part of this room. We'll replace the little knobs on the nightstands with these beauties and it'll give them an entirely new look. To coordinate with the gold accents on the knobs, I wanted to bring in these tall, gold table lamps. Their funky shape and impressive height will allow them to become a focal point in the room.
Stay tuned for the final reveal!

Cool Toned Living Room
This cool toned living room inspiration board suggests a scheme that is grounded yet fun. Clean lines and classic shapes balance out the large areas of color on the sofa, side chair, and area rug. Mixing black and white pieces of accent furniture with colorful upholstery pieces brings the entire look together.

Pantone 2014 Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid
Another year, another beautiful color. Pantone has named its Color of the Year for 2014; Radiant Orchid. It's a fresh, light purple with subtle a touch of pink. If you're anything like me, then you're constantly looking for ways to update your home's decor. Try incorporating Radiant Orchid into your home through a new piece of furniture, light fixture, or a few small accessories. This color pairs beautifully with a rich teal, bright coral, or bold yellow. Or simply let it speak for itself against a simple palette of white and gray. Face the new year by giving your home a bright new look!
