Home Decor Trend: Fur
Maybe it's just the increasingly cold weather that is starting to influence my decorating style, or maybe it's just the fact that (faux) fur home decor is fun! This trend is very easy to incorporate into any home, simply through a blanket or throw pillow on a sofa, chair, or as extra bedding accents. These throws and pillows are great winter gift ideas also! If you're loving this trend as much as I am and want a more permanent look, try incorporating fur through a more substantial piece like a side chair, bean bag (great for a family den or kids space), or ottoman.

Mixing Throw Pillows
Incorporating differnt colors and patterns of throw pillows is a great way to add some fun to your decor. Start with an overall pallette or direction such as pastels, florals, neons, or full on rainbow, and then begin building your throw pillow collection based on that. Once you've determined your overall look you can shop around for throw pillows that will help you to achieve it. Try places like Home Goods, Pier 1, Target, Etsy, and my very own Carly Ahlman Design. Just grab styles that you love as you see them, then you're guaranteed to acquire a well thought out collection of throw pillows that you truly love.
I'm continually working on my two-of-a-kind offering of throw pillows, and my website is a great place to start your collection (www.carlyahlmandesign.com/store). All styles are 16" x 16", not too large for side chairs, not too small for sofas.
Take a look at the inspiring interiors below and get started on your mixed throw pillow collection!

July 4th Decor
Summer is officially here... July 4th is tomorrow and it's time to celebrate! Whether you are the host for this weekend's festivities and responsible for decorating, or the guest who is looking for a gift for the host, these ideas will come in handy. The key to a great-looking July 4th party is adding red, white, and blue wherever you can. Decorate with seasonal garland, paper lanterns, and table cloths to incorporate large areas of color and pattern. Add small touches like confetti, festive napkins, and paper straws for fun details that everyone will enjoy.
Stay safe, eat up, and have an amazing July 4th weekend!
