Home Decor Trend: Fur

Maybe it's just the increasingly cold weather that is starting to influence my decorating style, or maybe it's just the fact that (faux) fur home decor is fun! This trend is very easy to incorporate into any home, simply through a blanket or throw pillow on a sofa, chair, or as extra bedding accents. These throws and pillows are great winter gift ideas also! If you're loving this trend as much as I am and want a more permanent look, try incorporating fur through a more substantial piece like a side chair, bean bag (great for a family den or kids space), or ottoman.

Four Poster Beds

Even though your bedroom isn't one of the "public" spaces in your home, its decor shouldn't be any less important. Build your room around the main piece of bedroom furniture, the bed. Accentuate this focal point by opting for a dominant four poster bed. It'll give the feel of a high-end hotel and create a space that will provide a nice, relaxing escape. Four poster beds can be found in a variety of styles and materials. Select a style that is more decorative to give your bedroom a more traditional and romantic feel. Or opt for a bed with simpler details for a more contemporary look.

Vintage Lighting: Ceiling Pendants

Recently I've come across a few different companies that offer great looking vintage inspired lighting. I love mixing vintage and contemporary pieces to create an eclectic look. These ceiling pendants are the perfect way to incorporate a vintage element into your space. Whether you want to add a pop of color or achieve the latest trend of mixing metals, these options are quality pieces that won't break the bank. Hang two or three of the same style over your kitchen island to give the entire room a new look.

Grown-up Bean Bag Chairs

Remember those circular bean bag chairs that you had as a kid? They were fun and comfortable, but not so great looking. Recently I've come across some bean bag chairs that are much more stylish and work perfectly in a "grown-up" home. When entertaining, most of us could use some extra seating (especially apartment dwellers like myself), and these options will do the trick.

Custom inspiration boards will now be offered with the option of additional interior design services such as in-home consultations, floor plans, wallcovering and floorcovering selection, final installation, and more.

Stay tuned for the official re-launch of the site! In the meantime here is a sneak peek of Good Style Design's new look:

Good Style Design: Teal and Grey Dining Room

Last but not least, I want to share my favorite dining room design from Good Style Design. This teal and grey dining room incorporates classic furniture with an updated color scheme. Keep it simple by painting the walls in Benjamin Moore's Plymouth Rock or go bold and select a teal paint color that coordinates with the area rug and dishware color. I would suggest using the white upholstered chair at either end of the table mixed with a set of aluminum chairs on both long sides. This look will give an eclectic designer feel and is perfect for a transitional or contemporary home.

Good Style Design: Steely Grey Bedroom

Last week I posted one of the many Good Style Design living room inspiration boards, and next up is the bedroom. This look is one of my favorites for the bedroom, because it's calm, neutral, and stylish. It has a transitional feel, meaning it's the perfect balance of contemporary and traditional. The mirrored night stands give a touch a glamour without getting too "girly", and the patterned area rug adds visual interest to the space. The owl lamp finishes off the room by adding an element of fun.
