Painted Headboards
Every bedroom looks a bit more complete with some sort of headboard. If you're tight on space or budget, consider creating a painted headboard directly on the wall behind your bed. Measure and paint a simple rectangle for an added field of color. Or opt for more detail by using a stencil -- this will give a high-end look without too much effort. An even easier option is a wall decal. These work best on flat, clean surfaces, so if you have a wall with any texture to it then this isn't the best option for you. Visit allposters.com for a large selection of wall decals.

Small Spaces: Loft Beds
Living in a small space? When floor space is limited, it's important to think vertically. Loft beds are a great way to utilize otherwise unused real estate. If you're living in a rental, a relatively inexpensive piece from a furniture store such as IKEA will do the trick. Make it a little more personal by painting the bed frame a fun color and adding coordinating bed linens. If you are a homeowner or intend on staying in your space for a while, it might be worth your while to invest in a built-in loft bed. Incorporate additional storage, a seating area, dining table, or anything else that fits your living needs.
