A White Christmas (Tree)

I've noticed recently that white Christmas trees are becoming quite the trend. They are a pretty and unique alternative to a traditional tree, and are the perfect backdrop for brightly colored ornaments. Stick with specific color scheme or incorporate as many colors as possible for a cheery, eye-catching look. Or keep it a little simpler with a single color or shades of a single color for an ombre feel. A white tree like this can be used in almost any setting, but is especially nice for a home in a warm location because of its light almost beach-like feel.

Decorating Shelves

Unsure about how to decorate open shelving? Incorporate a variety of decorative items to add visual interest. Start by instantly adding color or pattern to a space by painting or wallpapering the inside back of a bookcase or set of shelves. Simplify the overall look of your shelves and prevent them from looking cluttered by adding only one or two decorative items per shelf. If you have multiple items to display, try setting them up in groups of two or three for a more organized look.

Colorful Winter Decor

For most of us winter is a bit too cold, a bit too dark, and much too gray. When decorating your home for the winter season consider adding some colorful accents to help lead you happily into Spring. Try incorporating fun, new colors into your holiday decor. Experiment with variations of purple, blue, green, and yellow, for an update on the traditional red and green or blue and white color schemes. Switch out ornaments, stockings, garland, and other accessories to easily add pops of color. Adding colorful throw pillows is another easy way to incorporate color into your home as the seasons change. Little changes can make a big impact!

A front porch is my favorite part of a home. Not only do porches boost curb appeal, but they provide a calm space where you can enjoy a little fresh air in the comfort of your own home. Some porches are spacious enough to host a small get together, while others have just enough space to put a chair or two. Big or small, all porches can be turned into a beautiful place to relax. Fall Floral Arrangements

If you ask me, fresh flowers are always a welcome addition in any home. 'Bringing the outside in' is a tried and true design technique that is a definite do. And with fall in full swing, it's time to get some seasonal floral arrangements into your space. Whether you're throwing a holiday party, or just want to give your home some fall style, these ideas are sure to please.

Start with a fall-inspired vase or container such as a pumpkin (real or fake), or a rustic bucket or basket. Select flowers in seasonal colors such as red, orange, yellow and cream -- don't be afraid to mix and match. If you're feeling adventurous, incorporate items such as leaves, moss, berries, and fruit for a more eclectic look. Or keep it simple with a flower-only or single-colored arrangement. Keep your finished arrangement in an easily visible place in your home, and I swear it'll brighten your day!
